Coriander also called Dhaniya in Ayurveda. It is a highly cooling herb and will reduce pitta by its cooling action.
Coriander can be used as:
- fresh leaves
- dried leaf powder
- coriander seeds
- seed powder
- As juice or added to smoothies or juices
Fresh Coriander is mainly used to garnish foods in Ayurveda. Coriander seeds are used in a number of spice mixes that are used for cooking ayurvedic food.
The juice of coriander can be used for:
- Nose bleeds ( a few drops in the nostrils)
- Acid reflux
- As a liver flushing remedy like a smoothie or fresh juice
- Coriander paste can be applied locally to cool down the skin, such as acne rosacea or heat stroke. It can be used on swelling that is red and inflamed.
