Until You Are Still Menstruating And His Sperm Numbers Are Good — You Still Have A Chance
A specialist Post-IVF Failure Consultation that looks at what your IVF cycles missed — and what’s still possible. Harley Street, London — and online worldwide.
First — I want you to know that I understand what you’ve been through
A failed IVF cycle is not just a medical setback. It is a loss — of time, of money, of hope, of the version of the future you had been building in your mind. For many women, it is one of the most painful experiences of their lives.
And the cruelty of it is the waiting. Waiting for the referral. Waiting for the cycle to begin. Waiting for the result. Waiting to try again. Women — and couples — lose months, sometimes years, to waiting. On the NHS. On lists. On decisions that feel out of their hands.
I have sat across from women who have been through one failed cycle and are still filled with hope — and women who have been through four or five and are beginning to wonder whether hope itself is the problem.
I feel for all of them equally. And I say the same thing to every one of them:
Until you are still menstruating and his sperm numbers are good — there is still a chance. And there is almost always something that hasn’t been looked at yet.
That something is what this consultation is built to find.
This consultation is for you if—
- You’ve had one failed IVF cycle and want to understand what to address before trying again
- You’ve had multiple failed cycles and feel like you’re running out of options — and hope
- Your IVF cycles have produced poor embryo quality or failed fertilisation and nobody has explained why
- Your embryos haven’t made it to blastocyst stage
- You’ve been through NHS IVF where preparation was limited and you want to do things differently
- You’re considering another IVF cycle but want to make sure everything has been looked at first
- You’re thinking about stopping IVF and want to explore whether natural conception is still possible
- You feel something has been missed — in your preparation, your testing, or your partner’s assessment — but you don’t know what
- You want someone to look at your complete picture — not just your protocol — before you make your next decision
What IVF Cycles Most Commonly Miss — And Why It Matters
In 12 years of clinical practice, I have reviewed the histories of hundreds of women who came to me after failed IVF cycles. And across those histories, certain gaps appear with striking consistency — things that were not checked, not addressed, not even considered before cycles began.
Sperm DNA fragmentation — the most consistently overlooked test
Standard semen analysis checks sperm count, motility, and morphology. It does not assess sperm DNA fragmentation — the integrity of the genetic material inside each sperm. High sperm DNA fragmentation is directly linked to failed fertilisation, poor embryo quality, and early pregnancy loss. It is not routinely tested on NHS cycles. It is frequently not tested in private cycles either. And yet it is one of the most clinically significant factors in IVF outcomes — for both partners.
I assess sperm DNA fragmentation as a standard part of every Post-IVF Failure Consultation where a male partner is involved. It is, in my experience, one of the most commonly missed reasons for repeated IVF failure.
Women’s health preparation — rarely done holistically
Before most IVF cycles, women are medically prepared — suppressed, stimulated, monitored. What almost never happens is holistic preparation — addressing the foundations that determine whether stimulation works well, whether eggs are of good quality, whether the uterine environment is receptive.
Gut health and nutrient absorption. Sleep quality and melatonin production. Stress response and cortisol patterns. Thyroid function in detail. Inflammatory load. Constitutional factors from an Ayurvedic perspective. These are the foundations IVF sits on — and they are almost never assessed before a cycle begins.
The body treated as a protocol, not a person
IVF is a remarkable medical achievement. But it is also, by necessity, a standardised process applied to individual bodies that are anything but standard. The same stimulation protocol, the same preparation, the same post-transfer support — regardless of the woman’s constitution, her gut health, her stress response, her nutritional status.
This is not a criticism of IVF. It is an acknowledgement of what it cannot do — and what a Post-IVF Failure Consultation is specifically designed to address.
What a Post-IVF Failure Consultation With Ashish Covers
This consultation begins where your IVF clinic’s investigation ended — and goes significantly further.
We look at your complete picture — your cycles, your partner’s assessment, your preparation, your health foundations — through both modern clinical evidence and classical Ayurvedic medicine. The goal is not to repeat what’s already been done. It’s to find what hasn’t been looked at yet.
What we review together
🌿 Your complete IVF history — cycle by cycle, what happened at each stage, where things went wrong, and what that pattern is telling us clinically
🌿 Your partner’s sperm assessment — including sperm DNA fragmentation if not already tested, and what natural support can address for male factor contribution
🌿 Your egg quality picture — AMH trend, antral follicle count, embryo development pattern across cycles
🌿 Your pre-cycle preparation — what was and wasn’t addressed before each cycle began
🌿 Your gut health and digestive fire — Agni assessment and its impact on nutrient absorption for both egg quality and uterine receptivity
🌿 Your sleep quality and melatonin production — directly affecting egg cell protection and hormonal regulation
🌿 Your stress response — the cumulative stress of failed cycles and its physiological impact on your hormonal environment
🌿 Your thyroid function in detail — subclinical thyroid issues are frequently missed and directly affect IVF outcomes
🌿 Your inflammatory load — dietary, environmental, and lifestyle factors affecting implantation and early embryo development
🌿 Your Ayurvedic constitution (Prakriti) — which shapes how all of the above affects you individually and determines the right herbal and lifestyle protocol for your specific picture
🌿 Natural conception possibility — an honest assessment of whether natural conception alongside or instead of further IVF is a realistic option for your situation
What you leave with:
✓ A clear understanding of what your IVF cycles missed — and why they failed
✓ An honest, evidence-based assessment of what’s still possible — naturally and with further IVF
✓ A personalised natural protocol addressing the specific gaps in your preparation
✓ Guidance on sperm DNA fragmentation and male factor support if relevant
✓ Dietary, lifestyle, and Ayurvedic herbal recommendations tailored to your individual constitution
✓ A clear recommendation on whether further IVF, natural conception, or a combination is the right next step for your specific situation
✓ Hope — grounded in clinical reality, not wishful thinking
Women Conceive Naturally After Failed IVF. More Often Than You’ve Been Told
This is something I want to say clearly — because it is clinically true and almost never said in a fertility clinic setting.
Women conceive naturally after failed IVF cycles. I have seen it in my own practice, repeatedly. Women who were told IVF was their only option. Women who had been through multiple cycles. Women over 40.
When the foundations are addressed — when gut health, sleep, stress, sperm DNA fragmentation, nutritional status, and Ayurvedic constitutional factors are all properly supported — the body’s own capacity for conception is often greater than a failed IVF cycle suggests.
IVF failure is not proof that natural conception is impossible. In many cases, it is evidence that the body needed more support than it received before the cycle began.
This is not a promise. Every case is individual and I am always honest about what’s realistic. But “IVF failed therefore natural conception is impossible” is a conclusion that is reached far too quickly — and far too often — in conventional fertility care.
Until you are still menstruating and his sperm numbers are good — the conversation is not over.
What Ayurvedic Medicine Brings To Post-IVF Support That Nothing Else Does
Failed IVF cycles deplete the body — physically, hormonally, and at the level of what Ayurvedic medicine calls Ojas — your body’s deepest vital essence, directly linked to reproductive health and resilience.
The stimulation drugs, the physical procedures, the emotional weight, the hormonal disruption — all of these consume Ojas. And a body depleted of Ojas is not a body that is ready for another cycle, or for natural conception.
Rasayana — the Ayurvedic science of cellular rejuvenation — is specifically designed for this moment. Not to push the body through another cycle depleted, but to restore it. To rebuild the foundations. To replenish what multiple cycles have consumed.
Classical Rasayana herbs — Shatavari, Ashwagandha, Amalaki, Guduchi, Brahmi — support the restoration of Ojas, the repair of reproductive tissue, the regulation of stress response, and the rebuilding of the digestive and nutritional foundations that egg quality and uterine receptivity depend on.
For male factor — herbs including Ashwagandha, Shilajit, Kapikacchu, and Gokshura have specific evidence bases for sperm quality, sperm DNA integrity, and testosterone support.
Ayurvedic medicine does not treat IVF failure as a dead end. It treats it as a signal that the body needs rebuilding — and it has a three-thousand-year tradition of doing exactly that.
Why Ashishveda
Ashish is an Ayurvedic physician and natural fertility specialist with 12 years of clinical practice and 30 years of Ayurvedic medicine experience. Based at Harley Street, London.
She has worked with women and couples across the full spectrum of IVF experience — from first failed cycles to fifth and sixth. She has seen the patterns that repeat across those histories: the missed sperm DNA fragmentation test, the unprepared body, the overlooked gut health, the unaddressed stress load.
And she has seen what becomes possible when those gaps are finally addressed — women who conceived naturally after being told IVF was their only option. Women whose next IVF cycle, properly prepared for, succeeded where previous cycles had not.
She does not offer false hope. She offers clinical honesty — and a genuinely different lens through which to see a situation that may feel, right now, like it has no more options.
There are almost always more options. There is almost always something that hasn’t been looked at yet.
Until you are still menstruating and his sperm numbers are good — the conversation is not over.
What Patients Say
Dr Bansi Shah came to me after her third failed embryo transfer. She is Type 2 diabetic, had worked extraordinarily hard to bring her HbA1c down to 6.0% for IVF, and had nine blastocysts from one retrieval — a remarkable result. And yet three transfers had failed. She needed her body, her mind, and her uterine environment to be in the best possible condition before her fourth transfer.
We worked together for twelve weeks. Her rainbow baby girl was born in August 2024 — and is now almost two years old.
google review by Dr Bansi Shah- “I was referred to Dr Ashish when my 3rd transfer failed and I was at a place where I wanted to give my body time to recover and work on myself for a few months before doing my 4th transfer. I am type 2 diabetic, and our reason for doing IVF was male factor but also I had to battle and get my Hba1c levels down to 6.0 % (mmol/mol). We were quite lucky in that we managed to get 13 eggs from one egg retrieval, 10 of these fertilised and 9 made it to day 5 blastocyst stage. However after 3 embryo transfers and being unsuccessful we decided to get the remaining 6 embryos PGTA tested. 2/6 came back as euploid. This made me want to make sure that my body and mind was in the best condition possible before doing the 4th transfer. As you can imagine we had already spent a lot as we went to a private fertility clinic for IVF. My first session with Dr Ashish was great, she helped me let out and overcome quite a lot of emotions that had built up inside of me throughout my IVF journey. I didn’t realise I was even holding in so much. We had been through a lot already, 1st transfer was successful but ended at 6 weeks with a blighted ovum, 2nd and 3rd transfers both failed to implant. Myself and my husband were at a point where we felt like it was never going to happen and couldn’t understand why it wasn’t working. There was a lot of pent up frustration and disappointment. I found myself at an all time low mentally/stress was at an all time high. I wanted to work on reducing my stress levels and finding better ways of handling stressful situations that are not within my control. Then she helped me formulate a 12 week plan which consisted of adjusting my diet, taking fertility antioxidants, gut health capsules, fertility massages (these were amazing, I felt so relaxed after each one), breathing/Yoga exercises and visualisations. I felt myself having more energy, my digestive system was regulated, my sugar levels were much better and I even lost some weight. We also found that my uterus lining was much thicker and healthier than before. I also found my mood to be better and being able to handle my emotions better in stressful situations. Every week we would have a Zoom call where she would check in on my progress and keep me motivated. If I had any issues, she would help me make adjustments so I was able to continue on my positive transformation. I did my 4th transfer on 21st November 2023. We transferred one of the PGTA tested embryos, and it stuck! I believe it was a combination of Dr Ashish’s sessions/guidance, as well as making small but significant changes to my diet and lifestyle, losing a bit more weight and lowering my stress levels that helped us have a successful round. We are currently 27 weeks pregnant. I still follow the diet and breathing/yoga exercises I was taught by Dr Ashish and so far my pregnancy has been good and healthy. I have had to keep very strict control of my sugars and I am taking insulin as a safety measure based on advice given via NHS. Me and my husband would like to thank Dr Ashish for all the help/advice and guidance given to help us achieve our goal. We are super excited to meet our rainbow baby girl – we are due on 8th August 2024! We would highly recommend Dr Ashish. She is super patient, always has an empathetic but positive approach to keep you motivated throughout. Was worth every penny and I have permanently incorporated her advice and guidance into my daily routine to maintain a healthy mind and body throughout my pregnancy and life in general.

FAQ
How many failed IVF cycles do I need to have had to book this consultation?
One. Whether you’ve had one failed cycle or six, this consultation looks at what was missed and what’s still possible. In my experience, the earlier these gaps are addressed — ideally after the first failure rather than the fourth — the better the outcomes. But it is never too late to look more carefully.
My partner's sperm analysis was normal. Does sperm DNA fragmentation still matter?
Yes — significantly. Standard semen analysis can be completely normal while sperm DNA fragmentation is high. These are different measurements assessing different things. High sperm DNA fragmentation with normal semen analysis is one of the most commonly missed causes of failed fertilisation and poor embryo quality. It is assessed as standard in this consultation where a male partner is involved.
I've been told natural conception is not possible after my IVF results. Is that true?
In my clinical experience, that conclusion is reached too quickly and too often. Women conceive naturally after failed IVF cycles — including women over 40, including women with low AMH, including women who were told it wasn’t possible. I will give you an honest assessment of what’s realistic for your specific situation — but I will not tell you something is impossible simply because IVF didn’t work.
Should I book before or after deciding whether to do another IVF cycle?
Ideally before making that decision — or at minimum before beginning another cycle. This consultation is designed to give you the information you need to make that decision clearly, and to ensure that if you do proceed with another cycle, your preparation is significantly more thorough than it was before.
Is this suitable for couples?
Yes — and for cases where IVF has failed, I strongly recommend both partners are involved in the assessment process. Male factor contribution to IVF failure is consistently underestimated and underinvestigated. This consultation addresses both partners’ health as an integrated picture.
Is this available online?
Yes — available via video call for UK and international clients. The depth of assessment is identical to an in-person Harley Street appointment.
