Shirodhara is a form of Ayurveda therapy that involves gently pouring liquids over the forehead and can be one of the steps involved in Panchakarma. The name comes from the Sanskrit words shiro (head) and dhara (flow).
This is the ultimate head massage and considered by many as one of the most luxurious, pleasurable and relaxing experiences you’ll ever have, it gently washes away the stress and tension from your mind and body. The therapy involves the continuous pour of warm oil onto the third eye (central forehead) preceded by massage of the head to open the channels.
Traditionally repeated over a series of days, after a massage.
Please note you will need to bring an old scarf or head towel that you don’t mind getting oily, and a warm hat to go over it to keep your head warm on the way home.
